Redhill Open American – Fun in the Sun

On a day when sun-screen replaced umbrellas as the must-have accessoriy the 45th annual tournament took place on Bank Holiday Monday.

It was a great day to shoot and the tournament was as ever superbly organised and run by club volunteers.

The team prize was won by The University of Birmingham and individual firsts were spread around the clubs with Wyre Forest,  Bowflights, Saints and Sinners, University of Birmingham, Birmingham Barbarians, Droitwich,  Audco and Redhill all achieving at least one winner.

Special thanks to our Lady Paramount – Marlene Badham and  our Judges Andy Stanford and Andrew Leadbetter.

Redhill Archers – Winners of first Match of Ontarget Competition

On 5th May 2018

Redhill Archers hosted the first Match of the season of the ON TARGET CLUB TEAM Competition

against Ivanhoe Archers who  were taking part for the first time this year.

The bright sunny day , added to what was a fun friendly match. Several members of there team arrived

very apprehensive and nervous but went home happy with their first experience outside the club.

They had some very competent team members,  especially Andy Whitby who had a very close match against

Redhill’s Pete Morgan. Redhill Archers more experienced team managed to consolidate their scores into a

a convincing 13-8 win.

Thanks Ivanhoe for a great match

and Redhill Archers members  are looking forward to the next round in June.

Frostbite – Progress report

This year has shown a significant increase in the turnout for this event

Mixed  feeling abound on a cold frosty morning , but we have been so lucky , by picking good days this year for our frostbites.

With plenty of sunshine, we had 25 in Jan and 21 this week , resulting in full teams across the board.

The Juniors set the example all fighting for places in the team resulting in their best total EVER.

Other teams scores were a little down, but there is still good chances to claim a few league wins as other teams flounder as well as ourselves.

Well done everyone, results attached .

Last chances for Badges, or Personal best scores, Sunday March 11th

Victor Ludorum – 2019 – underway

The scoring system has reverted to 2017 version when maximum points will be 20,  except for Club championships

which will be,  The ranking for Club champs will be based on placing for Straight scores and for handicap adjusted and the two together will be used  the placing for  this event.

Pete morgan  takes the lead  after the JANUARY  frostbite with   20 points . I think this may quickly change after next event ,Portsmouth Postal league match TUESDAY 12th February

The next event to be completed will be the Club handicap competition (which I think finishes around 15th March.)

So if you haven’t finished your rounds yet now is the time to have a look at David Pearce chart showing who has done what

The more events you take part in, the better the chance of winning, or at least try and stop others .

REcords OFFICER – UPDATES for 1st JANUARY 2019

Sorry that these are a month late but as we have not been shooting outdoors we have not needed them  except for those who shot on New Years day. Well done to them .  I have managed to update your handicaps and classifications .If you do not understand yours or do not agree, please do not hesitate to contact me. There is of course a deliberate mistake!!?? Well done to all those whose handicap has lowered and to all those who have improved their classifications .

List on notice board shows  each members best three handicaps over the  year and the average of these  is your starting handicap for 1st January 2019.  Classes are the best you achieved during the  2018 season. If you did not complete three rounds the average of those that you did shoot are used for the average handicaps and classes revert to unclassified .

Please check yours

As we go into the outdoor please can I remind everyone who shoots away competitions to pass  your scores   to Samm for the record book as soon as possible after date shot and are essential for maintaining everyones record sheet.

Redhill Archers Club Championships shot 17th September 2017

Well done to everyone who took part in the Club Champs on Sunday 17th September ,

26 Members turned out to take part , which was a reasonable number when we look at the history, but quite poor when you consider that membership is now  around 100.  Are there any reasons, which we can change to ensure a better turnout  for 2018

Please find attached the basic results sheet so you can study it before the Dinner and ensure , you are there to receive any earned rewards.

If for any reason you know you are to receive a trophy and cannot attend event, please can you ask someone to collect on your behalf, to ensure all trophies are presented on the night.

Sorry to anyone who has put scores in since 25th  sept , but too Late.

There was quite a few changes towards the end ,all of whom pushed the records officers further and further down the list.

Sorry but I am just going to make you all wait until the Dinner next week to see who finally WON .

We are looking to update format perhaps , for next year so if you have any suggestions,

please do not hesitate to contact me or one of the committee.
